Mugen

Mugen was created during the pandemic- a time when isolation became a daily rhythm, and once-vibrant streets lay still, emptied of life. In those quiet days, the work of live artists faded into the silence.

And so, Mugen was born: a self-generating music engine, designed to be live-streamed, inviting interaction through the online chat.

Mugen is an intricate Max/MSP patch, a weaving of sound generators that play off one another, creating an endless soundscape. In live settings, its multichannel audio envelops the space, each sound traveling through the room.
This work brings machine and human into a shared breath, where each improvisational touch lends Mugen a heartbeat--an interplay that shapes the beginning and an end, in this otherwise boundless landscape of sound.
